My First Sermon: On Any Given Sunday

We finished up our Last Lecture sermon series last Sunday with "My Last Sermon." That has an unfortunate note of finality to it. Let's think of it as the final sermon of the first 15 years of my ministry at St. Andrew. This morning then I'll go ahead and preach the First Sermon of my next 15 years. The question before us is this: as a preacher and pastor-as a church and individual Christians-how do we balance our commitment to people with our commitment to godly principles? - There are some odd and strange stories in the Bible. Some of them come from a time and address situations that we no longer understand or can relate to (after all this is a very ancient collection of books). Yet there are also stories that we often overlook because they are creepy or weird that still have a relevant word for us and our world. As a special gift to the youth of St. Andrew we're going to spend the next few weeks delving into some pretty strange, but true passages of scripture. You never know what we will find there!
