Thank You!

We've spent the past several weeks talking about faithful practices of fruitful congregations. Fruitful congregations, as you might well imagine, are those that bear fruit for the Kingdom - notice the emphasis on the word "Kingdom." According to author, speaker and United Methodist Bishop Robert Schnase, his research and a lifetime of experience indicates that churches that make the most difference in their communities and the world that grow, both numerically and spiritually, share five easily identifiable traits. He says these traits are intentional and have above average emphasis on hospitality, worship, faith development, missions and generosity. This morning we'll be taking a look at generosity. Most of us understand that a truly generous person or institution is obliged to give because that is in their nature to do so, but is there such a thing as being a generous receiver? Open your ears and your hearts this morning to the possibility that we've only received half the blessings intended for us! (Permalink)
