There Are None So Blind...
This morning we'll spend some time looking at the opening verses of Chapter 9, in the Gospel of John. In this text, Jesus and the apostles come across a man blind from birth and, like good and interested students everywhere, the apostles want to know what caused it. Great question, with an easy answer - at least in the ancient world! He sinned, right? The Pharisees say yes but Jesus says no. The truth is, a quick glance doesn't usually help us find the true answer to difficult problems. Like most things in life, we get to the true answers by not only looking, but actually SEEING what is right in front of us. We share something with the blind man in this text: sometimes, even with perfect physical vision, we just don't see what we need to see. Truth is, friends, we are all blind. (Permalink)
