About that Cross...
Life is often made up of unequal parts of triumph and tragedy with, hopefully, the advantage going to the triumph-side, thank you very much. Take, for instance, Palm Sunday. It began with a celebration but the party didn't last too long. A new, uncrowned, King entered Jerusalem without bloodshed and at the head of a modest parade. Great! Who doesn't love a parade? Ah, but before you get too caught up in THAT giddy moment - look ahead, my friends. Though the fickle crowd cheers and gawks right now, all too soon the parade will pass. What then? Well, a Friday that is not all that Good, frankly, looms large before Jesus (and us). See, life happens, filled with both triumph and tragedy. The good mixed with the bad. It's what the wise among us expect. But, when did the party end? Where did the crowds go? And, when did the cheering stop? Probably about the time someone noticed a crude wooden cross on a distant hill. Now, about that cross" (Permalink)
