Just How Connected Are You?

Some of us are up on all the new trends in social networking. And, some of us just aren't. Those who are wouldn't think about leaving our homes without the latest Smart Phone all charged up and ready to go - so we can constantly be plugged into our social network. Some of us don't even turn on our "Dumb Phones." Those who are into the whole social network thing are Linked, Facebooked and Twittered-touching hundreds and maybe even thousands of "friends" world-wide. Wow! There is no reason why we can't be in touch with our "people" 24-7 if we choose to be. I am fascinated to read that the internet is the fastest growing element of the post-modern church. Are we who are called to be living stones meant to be built into a "virtual" spiritual house, centered around distant relationships with people? Is that a Christ-like relationship? I can see the internet preaching and teaching possibilities, but was this the limit of the example Jesus shared with us? Was preaching and teaching ALL that He did? Or, are we missing especially powerful elements of His ministry that Jesus used to pull people together and bring them to God? Can you love and touch and HEAL from a distance? Are we so "connected" that we've lost touch? I wonder? (Permalink)
