I don’t know about where you worship, but
the most popular place to hear a word from God in our church is
definitely the last pew. I can almost always count on the
front pew being vacant, but there are folks who come early in order
to stake out the very last pew. It must be the “sweet
spot” for worship: the ideal location from which to
hear and digest the pastor’s sermon.
As our congregation at St. Andrew began to wrestle
with ways to open up and extend outward our faith in Christ, it
occurred to us that wherever you hear the good news about God’s
love is a “sweet spot”. Whether you hear that
news on your computer, through your i-pod earphones, from the cd
player in your car, or sitting on the left side, fourth pew down
Sunday morning—hearing the gospel and applying the gospel
is what it is all about.
We have done the best we can to take the Sunday
morning message and make it available to you as if you were sitting
right in the middle of the last pew. We’ve even gone
one step further and added a very brief dialog at the end of each
message, providing you with an idea or two of where to best take
it from here.
The best place to hear any sermon is in the context
of worship and the best place to worship is among a diverse and
supportive community of folks who are on the same journey we are. We
would love to have you join our worship Sunday mornings at 8:30,
9:45, and 11:00 a.m. at St. Andrew. But if that is not possible,
then let me encourage you to find a nice back pew somewhere closer
to home. In the meantime, it is our prayer that you find
something of the insight or inspiration you are looking for in
the messages that are included here. |
